With every new year and season comes a group of trends for brides to fawn over. While some carry through a few seasons or stay timeless, others may come and go. Are you a trendy bride or do you want to keep it totally traditional?
2016 weddings will welcome a lot of never-before-seen trends and practices for all of you brides and grooms not afraid to try something different in the name of personalization. Trends are a great way to find something you love and make it your own, or maybe it gives you an idea for something totally different! However and whatever you choose to incorporate, make your day uniquely you and memorable as the best. day. ever.
1. Bright colors
Pastels may be sooo 2015. This year, it's all about eye-catching hues and bright, bold shades from flowers to decor to wear.
2. Local and sustainable food
Brides these days aren't green with envy, they're green with love for the environment! Many couples are choosing an organic, local, and sustainable meal for their guests. Healthy for them and healthy for the community!
Who says you have to adhere to a strict color pallet and attire for your bridal party? 2016 brides aren't afraid to do a little mixy-matchy and pull it off beautifully.
Brunch weddings are popping up more and more and we think they're a great idea! It may be a creative way to save a little money, avoid the party hard reception if it's not your thing, and who doesn't love waffles and mimosas?
5. So much more than wedding photos
Gone are the days of a four hours worth of photos. These days, couples are shelling out the money for their photographer to cover showers, engagement parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners, and the entire wedding day! A photo is worth a thousand words, right?
6. Wedding cake no more
Wedding cake alternatives are all the rage. Some couples are choosing to share their favorite treats (mom's homemade brownies?), donuts, cake pops, pie, or an entire desert bar without one central cake. You really can have your cake and eat it too!
7. Metallic Mania
While pastels may be out, bronze, silver, gold, sparkles, and sequins are definitely in. They're popping up on invitations, place settings, dresses, boutonniere, and everything in between.
8. Wardrobe changes
2-in-1 dresses, reception dresses, and even a wardrobe change for the groom are becoming more and more popular this year.
While we still think a videographer is a must if your budget allows, this year's couples are getting creative with the GoPro! Have you seen this viral video yet?
10. Play what you like
Who says you have to have the traditional songs that everyone knows and loves at your reception? Want to know a little secret? Your wedding DJ (hopefully us!) works for you, not your guests. Introduce your guests to some of your favorite songs or maybe songs that mean a lot to your relationship. 2016 weddings are breaking the limits so go ahead and break out that alternative, gospel, bluegrass, jazz or anything else that tickles your fancy to make your day uniquely you!
Anyone planning any part of a wedding knows that the celebrations start lonnnng before the couple is pronounced Mr. and Mrs.!
Engagement parties, showers, DIY sessions, rehearsal dinners, and so much more... a wedding brings on such an exciting and celebratory season and we think every step of the way should be lived up to its fullest potential!
Surely one of the biggest and most looked forward to event before any wedding is the bachelor/bachelorette parties! This is the best excuse to get together with your best friends, maybe take a trip somewhere new and exciting, and let your hair down! Who could say no to that?
Bachelorette parties specifically have been evolving into bigger and better soirees than the typical dinner and drinks out with your girls that once was. Nowadays, bridal parties are traveling everywhere from Savannah, to Key West, to NYC, to, of course, Vegas. A festival such as this deserves nothing but the best when it comes to playlists.
We've compiled a few of favorite anthems from a number of decades to perfectly tune in whatever bachelorette celebration you have planned.
1. Single Ladies///Beyonce
2. Respect///Aretha Franklin
3. Dog Days are Over///Florence + the Machine
4. Bang Bang/// Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj
5. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun///Cyndi Lauper
6. Senorita///Justin Timberlake
7. Roar///Katy Perry
8. It's Raining Men///The Weather Girls

Choosing the song you and your new spouse will dance to for the first time as a married couple is a big deal! So many of our brides and grooms spend a lot of time and brain power, not to mention internet searches, to decide on the perfect song. After all, you want it to perfectly express your relationship, maybe have some sentimental value, and elicit the perfect amount of emotion from those who get to witness your first dance.
With all that goes into choosing such a song, you may want a way to look back and smile on such a fond memory for many years to come. Yes, many couples have a wedding video to review but how often will you really watch it?
We think the song to which you and your spouse shared your first dance should be able to be remembered and thought of often. Here are a few creative ways to commemorate your first dance song:
In this day and age of Pinterest, DIY, and Etsy, there are great options out there to display your song lyrics as art and decor in your home! You can choose to have a print of the lyrics over a wedding photo, a modern design with your wedding date or other detail, or in a beautiful font with a matte frame. The possibilities are endless but here are some to get your wheels turning.
Calling all bold brides and grooms! If tattoos are your thing, having a tasteful design of a line from your first dance song could be a great way to commemorate your wedding day. There is a big tattoo trend now too of not only words in pretty fonts, but also tattoos shared amongst couples. While these aren't all specifically of song lyrics, this may give you some ideas for placement, style, and options.
We love the idea of a pillow with a lyric from your first dance song displayed in your home! It is so perfectly you, romantic, and the epitome of homey (bonus if your first dance was this song). There are a lot of great options out there when it comes to size, style, and where you can buy it- or if you're feeling crafty, you could make it yourself!
4. Chair Sign
This is a great decoration for your reception that you can display all throughout your marriage! Hang it on the chairs at your head or sweetheart table, then take it home as a sweet momento. Again, lots of great ideas and options out there!
Who isn't a fan of those personalized photo blankets you can get at drugstores or photo ordering websites? Why not take it up a notch and add your wedding song lyrics? We LOVE this one we found online- subtle, looks so comfy, and well, it isn't fleece (no hate).
So, how will you choose to commemorate your first dance as husband and wife? Whatever way you choose, we know it will be uniquely you.
Note: all opinions are our own and were not persuaded or sponsored in any way. We just love sharing with you what we find!
The holidays have come and gone, we (tried) to stay up until Midnight to watch the ball or the pelican drop, and we may have even made a resolution that by now, a week or so in, probably hasn't been kept. It's the same song and dance each year and yet we continue to look forward to the turning of a new leaf and all the promise a new year can bring.
What is it about beginning a new year that is so attractive to us? Why do we wait to January 1 to begin new projects, diets, habits, or quit others? We are given newness each day and yet for some reason, we love to wait until the clock strikes midnight each December 31 to put a new plan into action.
This year at AnyDay DJ, we are striving to do things a little differently.
Our resolution is to take each morning as a new chance to be and do great. Our resolution is to never except defeat or mediocrity. Our resolution is to practice the golden rule every day and will everyone. Our resolution is to excel in our craft, be grateful for our gifts, and share what we know and what we love with those around us.
We haven't failed if we slip up once or twice; each day is a chance to recommit to our resolutions.
This year, every day is a chance for growth, new and bettered relationships, and knowledge. We want to learn from those around us, give positivity, take feedback, and spread acceptance.
2016 is the year for new beginnings. It's the year for looking forward.
